I received the MSI AE1900-14SUS 18.5-Inch Desktop - Black a few days ago and have spent that time seeing just what the machine is capable of. I did not want a touch screen, so this unit was exactly as I needed it (as described in the ad).

PROS: I was very impressed with the size of the screen, it does not seem like an 18". The color is crisp, clear and the screen is wide. The whole unit has a very small footprint. The DVD player is also a burner, which was a surprise. The included SD card slot makes backup and document transfers very easy. Also, it is wireless so I do not have to have so many cords. The sound is great. There are a lot of added programs. I was very impressed with the quiet aspect of the unit. The fan does run loud when writing to the hard drive, but that does not last long and the majority of the time the unit is whisper quiet.

NEUTRAL: The OS is Windows XP Home. I beta tested Windows 7 and really like it better; however, Windows 7 is a memory hog with a requirement of 1 Gig ram. This machine has 1 gig standard and works great as is with Windows XP. The added programs also are listed as a neutral because I had to remove excess programs that I did not need, but that is common with all new computers.

CONS: There are only four USB slots and with the wired mouse and keyboard, that leaves only two. If you have a wireless printer this will help but you may need a USB hub if you use a lot other devices. Even though this unit is not a touch model, it comes with all the software for that. You can delete it from the startup. Microsoft Office 2007 came installed, but without any codes, so the use is limited to 21 times. It has a built in camera, but i have not figured out how to use it yet...maybe it is only available with the included Skype?

Overall, this computer is exactly what I ordered and needed for now. After receiving this computer I have recommended it to at least two other family members. This is a good model for college/school, home office, kitchen, study and even can be placed on a wall mount...but the touch variation would be better for that. I am giving this a five star rating because it is exactly what I wanted and as the description stated.

HP Pavilion P6330F Desktop PC (Black)


This computer, loaded with 8 Gigs of ram and AMD Phenom, is nice and fast.

My own computer use does not include any heavy duty gaming, so I can't provide any insight on performance from that perspective. However, my job is in computer graphics, and from that perspective, I can say this is a heck of a nice computer. Photoshop really zips on this thing, and my initial experiments with Premiere, Flash Pro, VirtualDubMod, and Pinnacle all look very good in terms of speed. I don't have any major complaints so far with the hardware.

The downside to any HP computer is that this manufacturer is the worst purveyor of absolute junk software, not to mention loads of demo garbageware from various payola agreements they've signed. If you buy this or any other HP computer, and if you really care about its software environment, hop online and look for any guides you can find that describe how to remove and disable HP junk and garbageware. Plan on spending a full day cleaning the computer out. Then replace everything, especially the worthless HP software, with highly regarded opensource programs downloadable from CNET and other reputable sites.

As for Windows 7, while the new operating system is not without a ton of annoyances, it is a reasonable improvement over Vista. First thing I did is kill the notorious User Account Control (UAC), although you need to know what you're doing if you take drastic measures like that. UAC is the amusing little system that confirms you really want to do whatever you just did, forcing you to click "OK" over and over as you try to actually use the computer. What a joy! I spent another full day changing Windows settings, trying to figure out where Microsoft hid certain features, and dumping much of the helpful (intrusive) trash that comes preconfigured with this operating system. It would be nice if Windows would just stay the heck out of the way.

So my four stars go to RAM and AMD, none to HP or Microsoft.

Very good home computer.
Upon the demise of my four year old single core HP laptop that had served me well I searched for a desk top that would meet my needs. I reviewed Consumer Reports, CNET and other on line reviews of computers. I also looked into many types of processors. Once I found my processor I found the computer that used it and went from there. Long story short I came to the conclusion that this HP with the Core I3 processor was the one for me.

Everything set up easily and has been working very well for about a month now. I am pleased with the size of the hard drive, processor performance and Windows 7 is good too. There are no negatives at all to date.

After shopping around the electronic box stores I determined that there was nothing gained by purchasing from any of them thus I used Amazon and shaved a few bucks off the price.

You might do better with another computer somewhere but for the money I would recommend this one to a best friend.


LIKE THE PC, THE BACKUP DOES NOT WORK
I love the fact that this computer has speed, and Windows 7 is much better that Vista, but I spent almost 3 days attempting to back up my files and I still haven't been able to do this in Windows 7 Backup and Restore. I must now send the computer back to Amazon and hope that the replacement is better. Also, I believe that Windows/Microsoft should be more supportive and helpful to those of us who purchase computers installed with their operating systems. A customter service Rep from Microsoft tried to charge me for tech support when I told her about the problem simply becasue Windows 7 was pre-installed on the computer. I have had this computer for exactly 5 days today.

I have bought several HDs with and w/o back-up software included. These HDs have just become file dumps and the accompanying back-up software never lived up to its billing. Many of my files that needed backing-up were buried deep within folder upon folder. Although I really never tested the other back-up software programs that came w/the external HDs or was forced to stop my back-ups do to 1) its lack of compatibility, 2) the need to download and install programs or patches on your computer, 3) the requirements to read the PDF files w/instructions that were limited or complicated, and 4) a few others I don't care to remember, I can talk about failing each time I tried to totally back-up my files and was forced to just COPY and then PASTE my files from my computer to the external HD. When one wishes to just copy and paste files from your computer to an external HD and your files are buried deep within multiple folders and/or the file names are too long, Windows or your Operating Systems, towards the end of your task, informs you that certain files were not copied successfully due to ...

If you have a great deal of files that have not been copied, you are then forced to one-by-one write down the name of the file and go back to the source file and make the corrections to the file. That might be decreasing the file length or pulling the file out of the multiple folder depth. Can you imagine doing this 100x?

Then you have to locate the external HD folder that it should have been in and place the modified file in that folder. And if it didn't copy the folder structure correctly, you have to recreate this folder structure yourself. Imagine doing this 100x!

Well, with ClickFree, there is no worry or fuss concerning the above-mentioned scenarios.

As they advertise, you just connect the USB and all is done for you after the countdown. If you want to change the settings before or after the countdown, that is extremely easy also. No software to install.

ClickFree also has a nice preview interface to allow you to view what you just copied. It, the interface, also allows you to open the the files from the interface itself. When all is done, you can on your own or with and installed reminder, to do an incremental back-up of the first, second, ... back-up. This is where ClickFree makes adjustments to files you already copied. So if you have 10,000 files and you add a new file to your computer and when you do you Incremental back-up, ClickFree will only alter your back-up set by adding this new file. Similarly, if you have 10,000 files and ClickFree effortlessly backed them up already and you happen to change any of the 10,000 files, ClickFree will only change your back-up set by this one file.

Expect your first back-up to be a while if you have many files. But when you do an incremental back-up, it's over before you know it.

It is so easy; a Cave lady can do it.

Great Backup
Clickfree backup works as advertised. It is easy to install. It works -- i back up once a week -- easily upon connecting it to the hard drive via usb cable. The search for new files and their back up takes only a minute or so. The resulting file display shows files new to backup since the last one, which is a great feature to use to make sure that important things are backed up. I rate the product highly and recommend it.


1 TB Clickfree is very easy to setup and use.
I found the 1 TB Clickfree Ext harddrive to be very easy to set up and use. I am only moderately competent when it comes to using computers and computer related accessories. I took it out of the box, plugged it into the outlet, plugged it into the USB port and it did the rest. It's very fast; since the initial use, it has taken less than a minute to complete following backups. I only have the one desktop CPU but it's supposed to be able to backup 3 computers. I'm happy with it.

Hey I was just wondering if this would be compatible for the new iMac's, for upgrading the ram. By buying here and installing myself I could save a 0 dollars. Maybe it is not worth it maybe the ram cards that come stock with iMacs are better? The new iMacs come with 512mb DDR2 SDRAM. It is 0 to upgrade to 2 gigs(2x,1gig cards)

Great computer at a great price
I am extremely pleased with this computer. EMachines has made a great computer at a great price. After a lot of research, this was the best priced computer for the amount of RAM and speed of the processor. It burns/rips CDs lightning fast. I would highly recommend this product. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better "bang for your buck".
