LaCie Firewire Speakers

I think many reviewers already mentioned: great Apple-like design, portability, decent sound and firewire connection(one less USB cable clutter). I will mention other noticeables. The bass is pretty weak but at current 8W output with no subwoofer, how can you complain? Other than the weak bass, the sound is great! I am hooking this baby up to my Mac mini. I love it! One reviewer was wrong though about the Apple remote. YOU CAN control the volume using the Apple remote. One fantastic thing that was not mentioned by other reviewers was that there is hollow spacing underneath each speaker with a hook for you to use to wrap around it with the speaker cables. This is great if you want to hide as much of the cables as possible. One key point is that the cable that is linked between the 2 speaker isn't extremely long. Maybe 2 feet or so. If you want a space-saving speaker, that fits well design-wise with your Apple computer, and be willing to sacrifice some bass, you can't go wrong with these cool looking speakers. Just bought them. I am hoping they will be reliable and last for a few years at least.

Apple's iSight performs as promised on all levels -- great video and sound quality. The camera is light, easy to set up and use, and truly portable.
The only things preventing me from giving it a full 5 stars are the included mounting stands. Apple was smart enough to include separate stands for positioning the camera on top of CRT monitors, on flat screens and a laptop. However the first two require that the stand me affixed using an adhesive sticker on the bottom of the stands. Though I had few reservations about sticking it to my old (and ugly) black-cased CRT, I'm not sure a lot of people will want to stick something onto the back of their lovely new iMac G5 screens.

Stunning clarity and amazing ease of installation
I absolutely love my iSight webcam. As with everything Apple, you literally just plug it in and it works on Mac OS X (I am running Panther). It is unbelievably easy to use, also. The motion capture is nearly television quality on my flat panel monitor. It makes me wish I had more people to video chat with! One piece of advice: If your Mac comes with a built-in mic, use it instead of the iSight mic because you'll get better sound quality.

I needed a long reliable cable to send a DV video signal from my video camera to a DVD recorder and it worked just fine. The cable is a little stiff, probably due to what may be a metal foil type shielding. It is not flexible like a cable with a braided wire shielding. There is probably a good reason why Monster made the cable the way they did, so maybe I should be giving it a 5 star rating. In a studio type setup where your camera is stationary the cable performs perfectly and the cable stiffness does not matter. If, however, you need some freedom to move around, you might want to try a couple of 15 foot braided shielding type cables with a firewire hub in between. You may also find that the stiffness in the Monster cable does not bother you. Whatever you decide, be sure to test your particular setup or intended use before using it on a paying job. Also be aware that communications between devices through a hub can be tricky, so test, test and test some more. Even hub manufactures make no guarantees in certain setups.

Well made cable, but seems to affect other firewire devices
Bought this firewire cable to connect my Mac to an M-Audio interface box across the room by the audio gear and it works flawlessly. Extremely well made cable, but seems to affect other firewire devices... for example an external hard drive set to auto-shutdown on a separate firewire bus on the same computer now stays on even when I shutdown. If I disconnect the Monster Cable from the computer the hard drive will shut down properly at the same time as the computer.

I've used LaCie drives for years and they seem to fail far less often than other drives I've used (WD, Seagate, Maxtor.) Perhaps one of the reasons that my hard drives fail often is that I tend to be a little rough on them. I edit video, often on location, so I drag my drives all over the place. I'm hoping with it's rubberized shell, this LaCie will go the distance. I love that it is self-powered so I don't have to lug a power adapter with me. It's one of the few portable drives that is fast enough for video editing. I purchased the case LaCie Cozy 3.5-Inch Hard Drive Carrying Case 130903 (Grey) for it as well to further protect it. I'll update this review if it dies.

Update: I've used this drive for a year and it's still going strong. I'm going to upgrade to a larger capacity model soon.

I bought this because I'm often traveling and I do a lot of Video and Photography work. Having the fast 7200rpm harddrive is great because I don't have to worry about dropped frames or slow down. Not to mention it has a large storage capacity and is more durable than any other external I've come across.

Throw in the fact that it has USB 2, Firewire 400 & 800 you can ask for a more versatile portable harddrive.

Perfect for the traveling, creative types.
