Here is the quick review:
I visited several outdoor and sports stores looking for a good replacement for my 15 year old Jansport that served me so well. I learned a lot just from loking and trying on bags. I ended up buying this bag at a store, but I wanted to reviw it because it os really one of the best purchases I have made in a while.
The Good:
1. The bag is very comfortable to wear and adjusts very easily to tighten and loosen the straps.
2. There are planty of pockets and they are well placed. You will not run out of room if you use this as an every day bag or a weekend travel bag.
3. You can easily access your glasses, camera or iPod from a top-access pocket which is lined with felt for protection of these types of delicate items.
4. The zippers work well and are easy to slide with one hand. This sounds silly, but most Jansport, North Face and other backpack makers have trouble making good zippers. They are covered with an overhanging piece of fabric to prevent water from getting through, but for everyday use that just makes the zippers a pain to use with only one hand.
5. The computer pouch is well protected and easy to get to. It also has a top strap and buckle to prevent the laptop from sliding up and out if the bag is flipped over for some reason.
6. There is a cool padded flap inside the large section that folds down flat to stabilize the bag even more when you stand it up on the ground.
7. It's a really good looking bag!
The Bad:
1. Honestly, for everyday use as a student or businessperson who travels, there is not big downside to this bag. It feels great, has lot's of room and doesn't look or feel huge despite its large capacity.
If you want to see one in person they are sold at STAPLES. I am not sure what other retailer sells them, but I definitely know they carry them there.

Versatile and Durable
I originally bought this backpack as part of a package deal with an old laptop. The backpack far outlasted the computer! It has become my go-to bag for school, traveling, day hikes, bike riding... everything. It is now three years old, has traveled across the U.S. and through Central America, been dragged around, beat-up, stepped on, rained on, sun dried, and put through just about any abuse possible, and it looks brand new still. It is easy to clean, and getting wet is not much of a concern thanks to the material it is made of. It holds everything you need for a day trip with room to spare. Best of all, you can load it up and it will still fit under a plane seat! This is a great bag!
To be fair, there are two complaints, both of which are minor. The bag is a little bit on the heavy side, but the comfort features make up for it. I have never had any problems with comfort, even while wearing it for several hours. Secondly, the laptop pouch is on the small side and only holds laptops up to 15".
The best laptop backpack I've ever owned
SwissGear has my business forever after purchasing this laptop backpack. I've been using it for 5-years now, and it still looks like new! No rips, tears, or signs of stress... not even discoloration from the sun!
The backpack was purchased for travel (by car and motorcycle) to and from work primarily, but it has been my constant companion for many business trips as my carry-on luggage. The two main pockets have plenty of room for folios, folders, notebooks, books, extra clothes, etc., as well as a very secure design for the laptop (closer to the straps than other manufactures, which keeps the weight and the fragile laptop closer to your back instead of in the front). The side pockets and front pocket are perfect for accessories, and the open pocket is great for my lunch, keys, or other things I need quick access to.
If you travel... you need this backpack!

I bought the exact same backpack couple years back, and it's been traveling around with me all over the globe. This backpack is big enough for a 17inch laptop and enough to put a week worth of your traveling belongs in it.
